A one-nighter with Allen Hooper
Television Casting Associate from Eli Stone
CAA announces an extraordinary workshop that will take place at the Studio. Allen Hooper will be in town and has agreed to host a one- evening special event. Allen works in prime time network television casting, and among his many credits he has worked on series and pilots such as UGLY BETTY, VALENTINE, ELI STONE, ACCORDING TO JIM, STACKED, FOUR KINGS, CSI, V.I.P, OUT OF PRACTIC, JAKE IN PROGRESS and many others.
The first 19 actors to register for the event on Monday, December 22nd from 6:30pm till 10:30pm will learn and experience first hand what it's like to audition for a primetime network television series. This is NOT an audition for any film or television project (although students of this class previously have been called in for auditions).
WHAT TO EXPECT:
Check in is at 6:15pm. Please be on time as we want to start promptly at 6:30pm.
Allen will discuss the audition process for Film and Television including but not limited to:
cover letters, agents, acting in LA and Atlanta, headshots, and resumes. He will keep the floor open to
Q&A, allowing you to gain the exact information you are looking for. You will also have the opportunity to read one-on-one with Allen. He will give you customized notes and feedback, and then you'll get to incorporate the feedback into a second audition slot with him.
Actors who turn headshots in one week prior to the event will have the opportunity of receiving audition sides before the class, so you can arrive prepared.
Business of Acting with Q and A

Atlanta casting director/former LA working acting shares his secrets and insights on what actors need to know to go to work in Atlanta or anywhere. Acting is one thing, the business of acting is another. Topics covered include business tools, agents, casting directors and finding work. This class is for adults, teens, kids and parents who want more information and insight to how the entertainment business works for actors. Investment: $40 in advance. $50 at the door.
This course explores the script as a map to your acting destination. It will help you define and use the following tools: Divisions of a script, text clues, turning points and stage directions; Analyzing environment, character, relationship and goals; and applying actors choices.
Emotions are the key to any powerful and moving performance. This interactive course is designed for actors to understand the meaning and differences between emotions, feelings and behavior. Through the use of various acting tools, exercises and techniques you will learn to access emotions and discover behavior. Learn to control your emotions and not let your emotions control you. Find the key to your emotional tool kit in this gentle yet powerful course.
Business and Marketing: What are you selling? How are you selling it? And how can I make it easier for agents, casting directors and producers to buy what I’m selling. In this class you will learn about business and marketing skills for actors. Develop your own personal marketing plan and design the necessary tools to implement that strategy.

Audition and Performance: Create more confidence in front of the camera with film director/casting director Ken Feinberg. Most actors make mistakes because they don’t know what to do when they walk into the casting room or on a film set. Gain the advantage of knowledge. This class emphasizes two important but different film acting skills: auditioning and on-camera performing. All classes are on-camera.
Session 2 - $200:
Session 1 & 2 - $275:
This class develops consistency and strengthens your on-camera audition and performance skills. The foundation of Meisner is creating strong skills in the areas of visualization, preparation and execution. The curriculum rotates between audition for film, scene work for film, exercises, comedy, drama and more.

It’s a two-day intensive on directing for film. Create your Director’s vision, prep your shoot, cast your actors and shoot a scene in class with on set instruction to make the most of creating and shooting a film with efficiency and creativity. Actors participate in casting and the shoot.

Edwanna Blanding has worked in the film industry for several years, producing and directing feature films, documentaries, informational videos and commercials. She received a Mass Communications degree from North Carolina State Univ in Raleigh and a degree in Film/Video Production from Full Sail in Winter Park, FL. She established her own independent production company, BLACKEYE Productions in 2003. She resides in Georgia with her husband and three children.

SUZANNE LYONS (producer/executive producer) – Suzanne knows the business of fundraising for films and selling them to distributors. Every one of her films have been sold, distributed and made money whether is was comedy, drama or horror. Her first film PLOTS WITH A VIEW starred Naomi Watts, Christopher Walken and Alfred Molina and was picked up and distributed by MIRAMAX FILMS. Her next film starred James Caan and Jennifer Tilly. Her producing classes in LA sell out at $1000/weekend. As a friend to Ken and the studio, she will come to Atlanta for $597/participant, and she wants to come in October if there is enough interest. Ken says, “her handouts alone will save you $20,000 in legal fees”. But before Ken books her, he wants to know if there is enough interest to learn the art of making movies that make money.
MIKE FENTON, Film casting director(picture) has cast some of the greatest movies ever made with over 31 years of experience and working on hundreds motion pictures and television shows, many of which are award-winning. One of the founders of the Casting Society of America, he is the only Casting Director to work with every major Director in Hollywood. He has cast for Steven Spielberg, George Lucas, Roman Polanski, Ridley Scott, Robert Zemeckis, Francis Ford Coppola, Sydney Pollack, Stanley Kubrick, Mel Brooks and many others.
GEOFFREY SOFFER (picture) Manager of Casting for ABC/Disney in NYC. Geoffrey is instrumental in casting TV pilots, mini –series and MOWs. He oversaw the pilot castings of DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES, UGLY BETTY and DIRTY SEXY MONEY. He’s also cast Broadway and Off-Broadway working with some greats like Stephen Sondheim, Sam Mendes, Michael Mayer and David Leveaux. He also worked on the casting of GREY’S ANATOMY
ALLEN HOOPER, Casting Associate Jeff Greenberg Casting (picture) works at Parmount Studios as the Casting Associate to Jeff Greenberg Casting. He has helped cast many shows including the EMMY Award winning UGLY BETTY. Other series he’s worked on include: ACCORDING TO JIM, FOUR KINGS, STACKED, OUT OF PRACTICE, CSI, VIP and DARK ANGEL. Jeff Greenberg Casting is best known for casting WINGS, CHEERS and FRASER.

KEVIN MCCORKLE (producer/actor) – Kevin has a list of credits as long as my arm including many, many commercials. In fact, he’s been the spokesman for Bob Evans Restaurants for several years. He teaches commercial auditioning and acting at the University of Southern California AND he’s a working actor in LA. Some of his credits include Star Trek, Alias, 24, CSI, X-Files and a recurring role on COLD CASE. Check him out on IMDB.com. Kevin wants to come late in the summer and teach a commercial class.
FRANK CRIM (actor/producer) – Frank is a working actor in LA who’s pounding the pavement every day auditioning for films, TV and commercial. He’s what’s known as a “meat and potatoes” actor. He works a lot of Primetime Guest star roles. Some of his guest star roles include: HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER, GEORGE LOPEZ SHOW, CHARMED and MALCOLM IN THE MIDDLE, although he makes most of his money in the many commercials he books. Frank was Ken’s audition coach in LA, and he’s fantastic. He tells it to you the way he it is.
MICHAEL GOLDBERG and GWENN PEPPER (agents with GVA agendy) –GVA Talent Agency in Los Angeles. has launched the careers of Eva Longoria from ABC’s “Desperate Housewives”, Sean Hayes from NBC’s “Will & Grace,” Masi Oka from NBC’s “Heroes,”(who Ken used to be in acting class with) Kirsten Vangsness from “Criminal Minds,” Scott Adsit from “30 Rock,” and Jeff Fahey who will be featured in Robert Rodriquez’s upcoming film “Grind House,” and many others. Michael Goldberg was a personal manager and agent at The Artist’s Group before joining the GVA team, and. Gwenn Pepper ran the theatrical department at Acme Talent Agency for a long time before coming over to GVA several years ago.
